Once upon a time, in days long ago, people actually met together at conferences. One of the best conferences for media ministry in missions is EMDC: a secure event where Bible translators, language-development workers, and many others connect with media specialists. Last March, many MMF colleagues had tickets to attend EMDC in Thailand, but it was cancelled after COVID-19 struck. That’s when the event leaders began the super-human work of planning and developing EMDC.online—or EMDC.info
At EMDC.info, there are five navigation icons, and we strongly encourage you to click on each of them:
Classroom: This is more like a college campus than a single classroom. After enrolling and paying the $25 annual fee, you gain access to “Select Classes.” You’ll find dozens of upcoming live, one-hour classes, along with multi-session courses on many mission-related topics. Most are media-outreach related and presented in English, but a growing number of sessions are presented in French, Spanish, or Russian. Classes in more languages may be offered soon.
Blog– With new posts weekly, this is a great spot to “Favorite” or add to your RSS feed. You may notice some re-posts of content originally from this MMF site. While we are completely separate entities with different steering teams, we are fans of each other and feel privileged to collaborate in building God’s Kingdom.
Guide– This section of the site is still under development, but the plan is to launch a beta-version by June 2021. This is where ministries can discover the deep needs of people they minister among, find tools to meet those needs, and locate mentors. These mentors can come alongside them to develop and implement outreach that meet specific needs.
Podcast– The EMDC team is meeting with various teams and individuals involved with media ministry to chat about who they are, what they do, and what they’ve seen God do. Follow along with YouTube or audio recordings of these sessions.
