Cellphone technology, the 7th wave of mass media, is quickly changing the landscape of communication worldwide. Last year we surveyed 21,000 youth living in Mexico, Guatemala and Peru, measuring their attitude toward and usage of cellphone technology. Our goal was to measure how youth between the ages of 12 and 24, living in rural areas, are adopting this technology as their own. Download the report to read an overview of our findings.
In the report there are links to the websites where the surveys were aggregated. If you don’t speak Spanish, you can download an English version of the questions here. Please bear in mind that the questions were adjusted in some cases to reflect a certain country’s currency or way of expressing an idea, so the translation is not word-for-word.
Ultimately, we plan to get this information into the hands of Christian leaders in Latin America. We will translate this report into Spanish and distribute it to any and all that are interested.
I am currently working on a follow-up document. It will give some answers to those who, after reading the survey, are asking “Now what?” Please email me if you woud be interested in receiving that document when it has been completed.
Feel free to share this report with others. If you have questions or comments, please email me.
