Embassy: Make the Most of the Opportunities These Days Bring

I am reminded in these dark days, days of an ever multiplying COVID-19 death toll, days when people around the world are being told once more they must isolate in their homes, days of fear and anxiety of both the disease and its economic side effects, that we have a clear instruction: “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” (Eph. 5:15-6).

Where is the opportunity in all this death? Where is the opportunity in being kept from one’s loved ones and from those whom God has called you to be with as salt and light?

The opportunity is that people worldwide are being reminded daily, even hourly, of their human frailty and mortality and are being forced to consider the foundations their lives are built upon. The opportunity is that people are looking for answers and relationships online in greater ways than ever before. How then do we make the most of these opportunities?

One way to make the most of these opportunities is Embassy, a ministry of Crescent Project. Embassy exists to connect everyday Christians with Muslims, so relationships can be formed, the love of Christ displayed, and the Word of God shared with people who may have never known a Christian, never had someone pray for them in Jesus’ name, and never had a chance to ask deep questions God has put in their hearts. All you need to volunteer and play a valuable part in this outreach is a heart that wants to serve Jesus and bless others, an Internet-connected phone or computer, and an hour or two to spare weekly – nothing more!

Here’s the story of one such volunteer:

Embassy Testimony! from Crescent Project on Vimeo.

Thousands of Muslims go online daily looking to find a conversational English helper, looking for a friend, and looking for answers. Could it be that God wants you to be the person they find on the other side of their screen? Embassy wants to help you become that person, and they provide a community to support and empower you, as you begin walking alongside your new Muslim friends online, on chat-apps, and perhaps even on Zoom of all things!
