Overview
Core members of the Mobile Ministry Forum (MMF) met for a three-day strategic planning meeting on September 28-30, 2015. The MMF leadership, recognizing the movement’s rapid growth, thought it important to come together to seek the Lord as to how our momentum could best be translated into kingdom impact. Our vision is to see every unreached person given the opportunity to connect with Christ and His Church through their mobile device by the end of 2020.
The “SoCal Huddle” took place in Lake Forest, California. 17 members of MMF joined in person and 9 participated via internet. The 26 participants represented 23 different organizations. Here are the agenda, meeting notes, and a slide show. We heard multiple encouraging reports from Mexico, the Middle East and Asia. We have reason to believe that a mobile ministry movement is underway. We heard from each organization about the mobile ministry projects they are undertaking. Here is a partial list.
Outcomes
- Initial plans for a more cohesive communication strategy. We will look to find someone who can facilitate the development of the strategic communication plan.
- We heard from each organization various mobile projects they are undertaking. Here is a partial list.
- We identified the first regional and topic specific mobile ministry groups we will call “Circles.”
- We identified the specific areas of giftedness and interest of each participant in mobile ministry. This will be used to match passion with potential collaborative opportunities.
- We prioritized projects that have been on our “wish list.”
- We moved five of these projects into our active project list. These include: web site upgrade, webinar series in 2016, creation of a “Social Media Ministry Made Easy” guide, creation of a new online course on “Developing Your Mobile Ministry Project,” create an MMF “creative development branch” focused on technology specific projects.
- We discussed the idea of one or two regional gatherings in addition to our next consultation. If we do a large-scale consultation, it will probably occur in the fall of 2016.
